Frequently Asked Questions

If you have questions that are not addessed below, please contact us at info@goshenchristianacademy.org

What kind of school is Goshen Christian Academy?

Goshen Christian Academy is a Christ-centered umbrella school designed to support homeschool families in providing a biblical and academically excellent education for their children. We offer flexible learning options, faith-based curriculum recommendations, and a community of support for both parents and students.

Is Goshen Christian Academy accredited?

Goshen Christian Academy is not currently accredited by a regional or national accrediting body. We want to be upfront about what that means — and what it doesn’t.

What it means:

  • Some dual-enrollment programs at community colleges require accredited school transcripts.
  • Some scholarships specify accredited schools.
  • A small number of colleges may request additional documentation from homeschool students attending non-accredited schools.

What it doesn’t mean:

  • GCA transcripts are not recognized by colleges. In fact, many homeschool graduates from non-accredited umbrella schools are admitted to competitive universities every year. Colleges increasingly evaluate homeschool students holistically: course rigor, portfolios, standardized test scores, and essays.
  • Your child’s education is inferior. Accreditation is an institutional certification process; it says nothing about the quality of your child’s learning.

What we’re doing about it: GCA is pursuing membership with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) as an early milestone toward greater recognition. We will keep families informed as our accreditation status changes.

If accreditation is a critical requirement for your family’s situation — for example, a student planning to dual-enroll or apply to a service academy — please contact us so we can discuss whether GCA is the right fit.

What is Goshen Tech?

The Goshen Tech Program specifically prepares students with industry-grade technology and design skills recognized for college applications, internships, and careers in tech.

Students learn modern digital design, software development, and industry-standard, professional tools.

By the end of the core pathway, every student has a real portfolio that stands out on college applications and serves as a genuine launchpad for students who want to pursue a tech career.

Which states do you serve?

GCA is an Oklahoma-based private school operating under the laws of the State of Oklahoma. We welcome homeschool families from across the United States, but umbrella school coverage is not identical in every state, and we believe in being honest about that.

States we confidently serve: GCA enrollment is a strong fit for families in states with broad homeschool freedom, including Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Idaho, Alaska, Arizona, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Virginia, South Carolina, and most other states with minimal or moderate homeschool oversight requirements.

States with more complex requirements: Some states require homeschool families to take steps beyond umbrella school enrollment — such as notifying the local school district or submitting specific documentation to the state. Families in these states should review their state’s requirements and contact us before enrolling. We will tell you honestly whether GCA enrollment satisfies your state’s obligations.

States where umbrella enrollment has significant limitations: New York and Pennsylvania have strict state-level oversight requirements that generally cannot be fully satisfied by enrolling with an out-of-state umbrella school alone. If you are in one of these states, please contact us first so we can have a candid conversation about what GCA can and cannot provide.

Our commitment: We will never tell you that enrolling in GCA makes you legally compliant if we’re not confident it does. Every family is responsible for understanding their own state’s homeschool laws, and we encourage you to consult your state’s homeschool association or the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) at hslda.org if you have questions.

Do you require a specific curriculum?

No. Curriculum freedom is one of the core benefits of umbrella school enrollment. You may use any curriculum that fits your educational philosophy, provided it does not conflict with our Statement of Faith. If you’d like guidance on curriculum options, our academic advisor is happy to help — but there is no obligation to take that guidance.

What grades do you support?

We provide comprehensive homeschooling support for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

How are parents involved in the homeschooling process?

Parents are the primary educators at GCA. You design your child’s daily schedule, select curriculum, and conduct instruction. We maintain the official records, advise when asked, and issue the documentation your student needs for the next chapter of their educational journey.

Do you have a way to track grades, courses, and attendance?

Yes, with our partnership with Stellar Academic, we provide secure, sophisticated, cloud-based grading and record-keeping services for families who would like assistance with tracking progress, grades, attendance, maintaining transcripts, and ensuring compliance with state homeschool laws.

Will a GCA transcript be accepted by colleges?

Most colleges and universities are well-practiced at evaluating homeschool transcripts alongside standardized test scores, course rigor, essays, and other application materials. GCA transcripts are professionally formatted, signed, and issued on official letterhead. Families can further strengthen applications through standardized tests (SAT/ACT), AP or CLEP exams, dual enrollment, or a strong Goshen Tech portfolio.

Do you prepare students for college or vocational careers?

Absolutely, we focus on equipping students with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and Christian character they need for success in college, careers, or ministry. Our high school program offers college prep courses, career guidance, and opportunities for dual enrollment.

The Goshen Tech Program specifically prepares students with industry-grade technology and design skills recognized for college applications, internships, and careers in tech.

Do you issue diplomas?

Yes. GCA issues diplomas to students who complete our graduation requirements. Our graduation framework follows a college-preparatory credit model. Contact us for the full graduation requirements document.

What is your refund policy?

The application fee is non-refundable. Enrollment fees are refunded on a prorated basis if a student withdraws within the first 30 days of the school year. After 30 days, fees are non-refundable. Please see our Tuition & Fees page for full details.
